There is so much to see and do in and around Correze that we have trouble fitting it all in, but if there is something you wish to do, or know more about that is not specifically mentioned below, just let us know and we will find it for you. So, here is what we have at the moment; as they say in the best shows, in no particular order.
Vezere Passion – Uzerche on the river Vazere – rafting is also available just 40 minutes’ drive away from the gîtes.
Beynac on the Dordogne- An extremely scenic area.
Brantome – Often known as the ‘Venice of the Dordogne’, Brantome is a lovely medieval river town with an old abbey, craft shops and market on a Friday morning. Hire canoes here for a beautiful glide along the river, a favourite among both adults and children. A favourite of our guests.
(That is those that are picturesque as opposed to those where you find loads of wine; they are also available of course!)
Gouffre de Lascaux – Magnificent caves in the Vézère Valley, Dordogne, containing over 2000 beautiful paintings and engravings of mainly animals. The original paintings, which are estimated to be over 17,300 years old, were closed to the public in 1963 as exposure to air and large number of visitors were causing damage. However, many of the paintings and engravings were meticulously re-created in the 1980’s and it is this which is now open to the public.
These caves are definitely worth a visit, a great experience for all the family and can be reached in just over an hour by car from the gîtes.
Gouffre de Padirac – We were amazed at these caves, they are enormous and very beautiful, requiring you to descend 75 metres before taking a boat to explore the underground system 90 minutes drive from the gîtes.
Grotte de Villars – Just 1 hour away, another set of amazing caves.
Pompadour – A small tour of the château is available, along with a separate informative tour of the grounds and Haras.
Chateaux Verdier – Situated in the local town of Lubersac and dates back to the mid15th century. Guided tours are available throughout the summer months.
Hautefort – Plenty to see, including lovely grounds to take a gentle stroll around allowing you to soak up the history. Guided tours of the château are available where costumed characters bring the place to life.
Cycling and Mounting Biking

For ease and convenience they also deliver the bikes to the gîtes and collect them once you have finished. Helmets, pumps, locks and tool kits are included.
Mountain bike trails – As the gîtes are located in beautiful rural France with exceptional scenery in every direction, there are plenty of off-road mountain trails to be explored and enjoyed. While there are challenging routes for the more experienced rider, family friendly routes are also plentiful.
