We are family of 5 (kids 10, 8 and 1) and we had the most wonderful holiday. Our 8 year old cried on the penultimate day as his holiday was coming to an end. The Gîte and hosts were both amazing. Lots to do within an hour’s drive. We had a great variety of days out ranging from beautiful lakes, villages, swimming pools and plenty of long lunches. Can’t recommend Papillion Gites enough.

Myself, two grown up daughters plus my brother and sister-in-law had a wonderful week in Gites de Papillon. The village of Segur le Chateaux is fabulous and one of the officially nominated most beautiful villages in France. Mondays in the village feature a local festival in season with long table seating and local producers selling great food and wine etc. to eat at your outdoor table. The corner shop is where you order your croissants and pain au chocolat for the following day. Fabulous lake with beach and great restaurant 20 minutes away. Local kayaking down the Dronne River is great. Love this area.

A truly beautiful location – fabulous countryside, charming medieval villages, excellent roads – although cycling would be for the more energetic (very hilly!)

The Gîte is beautifully decorated and has everything that you could possibly want…….

The only very tiny fly in the ointment was the very large family group with dogs in the adjacent Gîte who did dominate the pool and surround but it wasn’t really too bad and we did settle into an unofficial sharing regime regarding the pool!

We had a fabulous week in the Gîte de Monarque enjoying its excellent facilities, the tranquility of the area and also the easy access to our old holiday haunts of the Dordogne… We thoroughly enjoyed the evening farmer’s market in Segur Le Chateau as well as the horse racing at Pompadour. Kayaking on the River Dronne starting at Brantome (Brantome Canoe) is highly recommended although a change of clothes is a definite necessity! We had 3 children in their early 20s with us and they loved every minute of this holiday which says it all! We look forward to returning.

We stayed here for one week with 10 people and our two dogs. We had a great week here and our kids enjoyed the pool very much. Even our two dogs had a great time in the garden.

The Gîte is a great place, enough space for 10 persons. Hope to be back some day.

Gite was exactly as described on the website, clean, spacious and with good facilities including useful extras like dishwasher, BBQ, Wifi. The pool was just the right size and a perfect temperature for the kids to cool off on what was a really hot, sunny week and garden was big and enclosed, great for the kids and the dog. Gite also stayed nice and cool. Local area was beautiful and loads to do, local markets, lovely horse racing, chateau’s, quaint villages and a fantastic lake with beach, pedallos, Go-ape type thing and Wakeboarding centre. All in all a perfect family holiday.

Well equipped property with lots of room indoors and out. Lots of outdoor games and equipment in very good condition that the children loved.

The place is as described, very calm (re-discovering silence is a wonderful experience for us living in suburbs !), in the middle of the countryside, yet only 15 minutes away from large supermarkets. I have to say that the other gîte (the house is divided in two separate parts), was not rented during the week of our stay. Along with the pool, the very large lawn is a terrific playground for kids. We have appreciated the comfort of finding good quality bedding and towels.

Superb week in a spacious, quiet cottage with large garden and swimming pool! We recommend !
IDEAL FOR FAMILIES We spent a dream week with our 2 children, 5 and 2, in Martin and Michelle’s Monarque gite. The welcome was very friendly, Martin was very available for advice on the surroundings, our requests for equipment (especially tools for our son’s bike). The old and authentic looking cottage is very spacious, well equipped. Despite the high heat, it is cool inside thanks to the thick walls. The terrace for outside dining + barbecue overlooks the large garden and the swimming pool, which we used every day. Lots of things to do in the surrounding area (medieval villages, Haras Pompadour, Colette gardens …). The week has gone by way too quickly, we will be back!

IDEAL POUR LES FAMILLES Nous avons passé une semaine de rêve avec nos 2 enfants 5 et 2 ans, dans le gite Monarque de Martin et Michelle. L’accueil a été très sympathique, Martin s’est montré très disponible pour des conseils sur les environs, nos demandes de matériel (notamment outils pour vélo de notre fils). Le gite d’allure ancienne et authentique est très bien spacieux, bien équipé. Malgré la forte chaleur, il fait frais à l’intérieure grâce aux murs épais. La terrasse pour manger dehors + barbecue donne sur le grand jardin et la piscine, dont nous avons profité tous les jours. Beaucoup de choses à faire aux environs (villages médiévaux, Haras Pompadour, jardins Colette …). La semaine est passée beaucoup trop vite, nous reviendrons !
